DAY 21 IN ECUDOR!

Hi yall! It’s Elea and Victoria again!

We had a full day of surveying today here on Santa Cruz so we started off strong by walking down to the pier to watch saw a bunch of fisherman bringing in their new fish. After we started full speed ahead and surveyed for the rest of the morning. We got to meet so many people from all over the world like Belgium, Peru, Israel, or Netherlands. There isn’t any country we haven’t heard yet! It’s been so amazing how the Galapagos brings people together that are so invested and engaged with the wildlife here. Even the locals have told us that they have enjoyed our surveying here and that our questions are beneficial. It’s been such a amazing learning process in understanding the motivation for tourists and locals alike for helping the community and wildlife here. They spend their time engaged fully on the survey to help us as much as possible. interesting to see the motivation as well for people that want to help. They will sit as long as they need sometimes to make sure that they are helping us with as much information as they can. We have conversations discussing the struggles they face in the islands weather it be the healthcare, water sources or the animal interactions with tourists. The kindness the community has shown us has been so refreshing and so awesome. After a long day of surveying we all joined together to have a movie night and empanadas before getting some rest for our big and early day tomorrow to Isabella. Buenos noches for now!

Signing off,

Elea and Victoria
