Day 27 in Santa Cruz!
Hi all!!
Today we had a free day! It was a nice slow morning, some of us stopped by a local soccer game to see what the community that we have been learning about was truly like. It was great to see so many people come together to cheer the young players on. Futbol as they call it here, is one of the most common sports played throughout Latin America. The Ecuadorian national team is “La Tri” which is a huge source of national pride, we see jerseys everywhere we go, even on the islands! Throughout our time in Quito, Cumbaya, and on the islands we have seen kids and adults playing some pickup games, it is a large part of the Ecuadorian lifestyle. After watching the eventful game, we went and had brunch at 1835 Coffee and then we went shopping!! We all got a ton of goodies and gifts for our friends and families, that we can’t wait to share! There was a lot of time today to reflect on our trip in Ecuador, the great laughs, forever memories, friendships created, and sights seen. Although our trip is coming to a close, we are all excited for the next few days before our journey back to the USA!
From,
Meredith + Leah
