Day 28 in Santa Cruz!
Hi everyone!!
Today was such a fun day because we got the opportunity to go explore El Chato Ranch in the highlands of Santa Cruz! It's a privately owned reserve where giant tortoises roam freely on the ranch. These were the biggest tortoises we have seen so far! It was incredible to observe them in their natural environment, whether they were grazing in the grass or resting in their ponds. After spending time with the tortoises, we explored three different lava tunnels on the ranch. These tunnels are formed when the surface of a lava flow hardens, while the molten lava underneath keeps flowing. Eventually, once the lava drains away, it leaves behind long, hollow tubes. We had the afternoon off, so most of us headed back into town for some shopping and to explore the local shops. To end the day, we had dinner at Midori Sushi. The rolls were fresh, creative, and delicious.
But the best part of the day wasn’t the tortoises or the sushi. It was celebrating Dr. M’s birthday. We’re so thankful for you, Dr. M. You’ve guided us through this month with kindness, patience, and so much enthusiasm. We hope you felt celebrated today, because you deserve it. It’s been such a gift for us to be able to spend this time with you! ¡¡¡¡Feliz cumpleaños, Dr. M!!!!
