Day 13 San Cristobal

 !Buenas!

Today we woke up bright and early to hustle down to breakfast at 8am. Today at Cann’s House, Nelly made us some exquisite cheese empanadas with a scrambled egg on the side and pineapple juice to wash it all down. Absolutely incredible! Nelly never disappoints! After filling our bellies, we suited up and made our way to the main boardwalk on the island to start our morning collection of surveys. After chatting with many interesting people, we worked up an appetite and stopped by a local place for a $6 lunch! After lunch, we made a quick pit stop at Cann’s House to change for our afternoon adventure. We then embarked on the main boardwalk to pick up our snorkel gear, and packed onto a bus to take us to La Lobería. On the rocky walk over, we saw some marine iguanas and sea lions just lounging about. Once we made the plunge into the water, we were greeted by sea turtles, parrot fish, and other friendly marine life. We snorkeled, swam, and just overall enjoyed the amazing scenery this beach had to offer. After our afternoon adventure, we found our way to a panadería called Kachi Tanta. At this artisanal bakery, we got heaps of baked goods such as cinnamon rolls, pan de chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, and more. To burn off these calories, we hustled back to Cann’s House to throw on our best clothes for our reservation at the Pier. At this fine establishment, we were served the infamous Brujo fish! Personally, I would say this fish was worth the hype, but others (*cough cough ella*) might share a different opinion. During our dinner, we were also disturbed by a feral orange cat who, let’s just say, wanted to be Dr. M’s new friend and did not want to leave him alone. This delectable and cultural meal was provided and paid for by Dr. M, and for that I must say THANK YOU DR. M!!! After dinner, we wrapped up our night with a stroll down the boardwalk to the local heladería, Calypso, then back to get a good night's rest at Cann’s House. Talk to y’all next week!
