Day 15 in San Cristobal
Hi guys!
I’m back again. We started off the day eating fried yuca and eggs before taking some time to explore around for a bit before our activities. Some of us went to get coffee while others went to go get souvenirs. We then met back up at the hotel before walking to the Visit Healthcare Center, where they gave us a tour of the hospital. We learned about several healthcare-related challenges in the area. For example, patients diagnosed with serious cardiac or neurological conditions often need to travel to the mainland for specialized treatment. This is also the case for individuals with cancer and other major illnesses that require advanced medical care not available locally. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel to grab our survey tools and headed to lunch at one of our favorite spots. After we fueled up and were ready to go, we split up to take on the pier again for the last time. In the end, we were able to take out over a hundred surveys today. In total, we have collectively surveyed about 700-800 people on the island. Go team! After taking a short break to rest up, we went to eat dinner at Rosita’s for our farewell dinner for San Cristobal, followed by ice cream from Calypso. It’s been a really fun time here and we’ve all made so many good memories, snorkeling, surveying, and sightseeing. Thank you so much to those from USFQ who gave us your assistance, you helped make things run way more smoothly and this would have been 10x harder without you. Tomorrow we will be traveling to Santa Cruz, where we will continue our activities there. Looking forward to talking to you all soon!
Hasta Luego,
Tanush M.
