Day 16 in Santa Cruz!
Hey guys!
We woke up really early this morning to catch a ferry to Santa Cruz. While we were waiting to board the boat, we watched the sea lions playing in the water one last time on San Cristobal before leaving. The ferry took about two hours, and it was a little bumpy, but thankfully no one got very seasick. Once we arrived, we unloaded from the ferry and made our way to the hotel. After getting settled in, we walked around the town. We visited a local grocery store and walked through some shops along the street. We also looked at the pelicans, marine iguanas, sea lions, and crabs along the water, which was a beautiful vibrant sea green color. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant on the water for lunch before heading back to the hotel to rest for the afternoon. We were all pretty tired after our early morning, so some of us stayed back at the hotel to relax. The rest of us went to a nearby beach to explore and go swimming. Later, we all met up for dinner then walked around the town again. The town looked very different at night from how it looked earlier in the day, and because it was a Friday night, lots of people and families were out and about. There were children running around, playing soccer, and coloring. We walked by a live band playing in the middle of the road and stopped by stalls that were set up by street vendors selling souvenirs by the road. Then we walked to the docks and looked out at the fish swimming around in the water and tried to spot the sharks. Afterwards, some of us stopped by to get some ice cream before heading back to the hotel for the night. That ends our first day on Santa Cruz!
Hasta luego,
Liana Rodila
