Day 17 in Santa Cruz
Hello hello!! Today was our first day of surveying on Santa Cruz Island and we got to interact with lots of new people. We woke up for breakfast at our hotel at 8am- it was a delicious assortment of fresh fruits, eggs, bread, and blackberry juice. After eating, we split up and began giving surveys around town. Some of us hung around the pier, while others went into shops and asked people out on the streets. This island is a lot busier, louder, and more populated, which makes for an interesting surveying experience! We took a break for a $6 lunch at El Chocolate before going back out. Our iPads were running low on battery, so we ran them back to the hotel to charge for a bit. Then, we worked up until dinner time to get about 250 surveys in one day! Ella and I have been craving piña colada paletas, so we stopped by a shop to get them for only 50 cents! After everyone was finished with their surveys, we went to La Regata for dinner (I got fish with passion fruit sauce!) and it was delicious. ALSO, Alex and I finally heard Ed Sheeran for the first time on the islands! What a special moment!!! It’s amazing to see the streets come alive at night as everyone enjoys live music and hanging out. In general, we had a full day of surveying, eating, and shopping while we adjust to life on Santa Cruz. I can’t wait to explore more of the island!
¡Chao!
