Day 22 - Isabela

Hi guys!

It's been another week here in the Galapagos. Today we woke up bright and early to leave our hotel at 5:50 AM to catch a boat to travel to Isabela. After we got to the pier, we went through a small security check before finally hopping aboard. The trip was about 2-3 hours, so I spent the trip sleeping (although the trip was a bit bumpy so falling asleep was a bit difficult). We eventually reached the island and, after gathering our luggage, walked to the hotel. We enjoyed a nice home-cooked breakfast of waffles, fruit, and eggs, before settling into our rooms. Once that was finished, we got prepared for today's activity, an excursion at the Tunnels Cabo Rosa. We got our snorkeling gear and traveled to the dock to begin our excursion. Our boat ride there took about 45 minutes and was really exciting. The boat moved very quickly through the water and would jump a lot, but I found it fun. We spent a bit of time on the rock formations looking at blue-footed boobies, being taught the differences between males and females while also watching one of the males perform a mating dance to impress his female friend. We took pictures together before returning to the boat to gear up and get in the water. We saw a lot of different animals on the trip, such as parrotfish, angelfish, turtles, penguins (my personal favorite), yellow and black pufferfishes, and blacktip sharks. After our excursion, we ate lunch on the boat, which was chicken with vegetables and rice, before heading back. Right before we got back to the dock, we saw a whole flock of blue-footed boobies flying. It was one of the most beautiful sights I've seen on the trip, seeing their synchronized flying and watching them dive and resurface. We came back to the hotel afterwards to freshen up, before being treated to dinner, with our options being sweet and sour chicken or teriyaki fish. I chose the chicken and I must say, it was quite tasty! Overall, today was really fun, definetly the best snorkeling expedition we've gone on and a memory we'll all look back on fondly.
