Day 5 in Quito!

¡Buenas! We started our day bright and early at 8am when we met to try a local panadería for breakfast. At the panadería, Pan de Rey, we tried their chocolate croissants, which I must say were quite delicious. After breakfast, we made our way to the USFQ campus for our 9am survival Spanish class. La clase de hoy fue muy interesante y aprendimos sobre términos médicos en español y la comida de la región costera. After Spanish class, we had a great lecture by Dr. Valeria Ochoa where we discussed the state of water quality in the Galápagos Islands. We then had a group discussion to talk about One Health and what to expect when we arrive to the islands. At this point in the day, we had all worked up an appetite and ventured to the mall for a mouthwatering food court lunch. After lunch, we walked around the area and ran some errands that took us to the pharmacy and even Taco Bell. We then made our way back to campus and enjoyed a nice game (or 3…) of go fish while taking in the beauty of the USFQ campus. After a quick meeting to talk about getting ready to travel to the Galápagos Islands tomorrow, we headed back to the hotel. We had a restful afternoon full of playing crazy 8’s. For dinner, we made our way to Birreria for a wonderful dinner where we went over useful Spanish phrases together. After dinner, we came back to the hotel and finished the night with some more card games like 52 pickup and crazy 8’s.

¡Nos vemos!
