Day 6 in Galapagos!!!!!
Hi Yall!!!!!
Today we started our day off super early when we left the hotel at 5:50 this morning we got to take a short drive to the Mariscal Sucre Quito International airport where we took our bags through two different X-ray machines! Most of us managed to get through without a hitch except for Alex who had both of her bags sent back through the Xray machines. We sat around and played our version of crazy eights which is essentially just adding new rules with every win. We then boarded our plane for a quick flight to José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport for a 45-minute refueling and then off to the Galapagos we went. We finally landed in the Galapagos. And met up with the USFQ Galapagos staff Pam, Di, and Xavier. We all drove to the hostel cann’s house. We then walked to campus which is right Infront of the beach!!!!! On our trip to campus, we heard the ever-growing chorus of sea lions and the pups. After a lunch of chicken, vegetables, and a fruit salad cup for dessert we were off to one of the classrooms for our first lesson on what to expect and how to act on the island. After our lesson we decided to run back to the hostel and change into our swimsuits and jump in the ocean! when Ella, Alex, and I got back we noticed we had an unexpected visitor in our room a tiny baby gecko which we now call Geico! While at the beach we watched the sea lions weave in between the people swimming and even got to watch a pup nurse! It was the cutest thing! We ended our night with a pizza dinner at Giuseppe’s we got to try three different pizzas Margaritta, American, and three meats. After our dinner with Pam the seven of us and Dr. Muehlenbein walked over to the ice cream shop across the way and got an assortment of different flavors which were all delicious! which ends our first day in the Galapagos islands!
Hasta Luego!!!
