Day 24 in Isabela
Hey!
Today we had a relaxing free day, which was much needed after our early mornings and hiking the past couple days. We got to sleep in a little bit before having breakfast (eggs, fruit, and bread) at our hotel. Because Isabela island has such a long, beautiful beach, we decided to spend our free time hanging out by the ocean. First, we walked to the store to grab snacks, and Ella and I visited a surf shop to rent boards for the day. We made our way to the beach after collecting all our goods, but we ended up walking quite a bit before settling down in the sand. Some of us went surfing and were able to catch a few waves, although it was not the easiest beach break to surf. We also took lots of photos, drew pictures in the sand, and ended our time laying out in the sun. Unfortunately this caused a few sunburns because the sun is so intense close to the equator! Before heading back to the hotel, we hung out at a local place named after the rare pink iguana- these unique iguanas are found only at the Wolf Volcano on this island. Liana and I also went on a mission to find coconuts, and we got lucky because we found a guy who cracked them open with a machete so we could drink straight out of it. After our nice long beach day, we headed back to the hotel to eat. For dinner, we had either fish or chicken, and then we played Scrabble after to complete the night. We had a great free day spending time with each other and living the laid-back island life. See ya later!
