Day 28
Hello everyone, and welcome to the last daily update of the 2026 Ecuador and Galapagos Islands Trip. Today started like any of our usual days with a breakfast meal made by the best staff of eggs, fruits, bread, and plenty of treats. Today's adventure was a short nature hike around two volcanic sinkholes, another nature park filled with hundreds of Giant Tortoises, and even Lava Tunnels. We walked close to these Tortoises, took pictures with them and even watched them feed on the grasses and fallen Guava. The tunnels we walked through were formed millions of years ago when the volcanoes were active and were more recently uncovered when animals began to fall through the vegetation where the openings were covered. When we surfaced, we headed inside to eat a wide variety of foods for lunch while watching the Tortoises continue to eat and explore the land. After lunch, we explored the gift shop before boarding the bus to head back into town and to the hotel. At the hotel, we all took some time to ourselves to catch up on some needed journaling, napping, and packing for tomorrow's departure. Before dinner, a few of us hit the streets one final time to frantically buy any final items and pieces of memorabilia. While dropping off our new items, we all got ready for our final goodbye meal at Midori by dressing up in all white. Dinner was created with each person getting their own roll, and then a few were shared amongst the group. There were so many good rolls to try, and we ended up trading around the table. Some of us ate too much and were full to the point of almost exploding, but everyone made it out alive. A few certain individuals got up from the table but left there phones and might have received some unwelcomed photo spam. We ended the night with a calm stroll down the boardwalk and pier one last time before finalizing our night with treats from the Gelato Bar.
