Day 14

 Hello again!

Today has been a great and very adventurous day, climbing mountains and exploring the giant tortoise reserve. It started out with a tasty breakfast made by Nelly of an egg and sausage sandwich with some fresh fruits. Now today we didn’t have any surveying to do because we planned on leaving early for our adventure, but we did have enough time to walk down into town and grab some coffees and tea to boost start the day. Once back, we all boarded the tour bus to drive 20mins to El Junco, which was a caved in volcano that now held the most freshwater found anywhere on the islands. After exploring around the rim of the volcano, we headed down to then travel to the giant tortoise reserve which has allowed the overall population to boost 600% within the islands. Walking through, we saw lots of the them feeding on their freshly gifted elephant ear leaves which is an invasive species that they happen to enjoy eating. There was even a section of a bunch of baby tortoises in cages that were less than a few months old. Once finished, we headed off to lunch where we all ate fresh yellowfin tuna and a mix of fruits from the farms that spanned the property. After eating we had some free time to explore through the crops and even freshly pick some oranges off the trees, which required some gymnastics moves from everyone. We then gathered back on the bus to head home were some of us took a nice nap to pass the time. Because it was early, we went down to the boardwalk to browse all the shops one last time and to make any purchases that we had left. To finish the night, we revisited Umami, and made sure to order new items to really explore the menu.
